| Court awards life-imprisonment in a broad day light murder | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 20- Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri, Subash Chander Gupta, today awarded life-imprisonment to accused Vayas Sharma resident of Jamola Tehsil Kotranka District Rajouri, who was facing trial for committing murder of one Surjeet Kumar alias Papu in the year 2002. Principal Sessions Judge, after hearing Public Prosecutor MA Mirza appearing for the state and Advocate Liaqat Ali appearing for the accused persons, and going through the record of the case, observed that prosecution has succeeded in proving the allegations against the accused beyond any shadow of doubt. Accordingly accused Vayas Sharma is convicted for the commission of murder of deceased Surjeet Kumar alias Papu u/s 302 RPC and imposed life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 4000. According to the prosecution case the deceased Surjeet Kumar alias Papu resident of Jamola along with his relatives came to Rajouri for purchase of items for the marriage of his sister. He was earlier working as an employee with the Bakery Shop of Ajay Kumar and had left the aforesaid shop, one month ago. On the day of occurrence he went to the bakery shop situated at City Chowk Rajouri. Besides Vyas Sharma, two other employees namely Madan Lal and Sakheel Ahmed were present there. Deceased asked Madan Lal for arranging breakfast in the workshop of bakery Madan Lal served breakfast to all the employees working there. At that time deceased Surjeet Kumar and accused Vyas Sharma did not talk with each other. After taking breakfast the accused lifted wooden rolling pin from the table and inflicted three/four blows on the head of the deceased whereby deceased became unconscious and fell on the ground and started bleeding from the head of the deceased. The accused fled away from the spot. Few persons shifted the deceased from the pool of blood to Rajouri Hospital but deceased succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. During the investigation it was found that cause of enmity between the accused and the deceased was the illicit relation of the deceased with the two sisters of the accused. Police after the completion of the investigation presented the challan in the Court of law. JNF
