MP Khatana ensures rehabilitation support for Taraf Manji residents amid industrial area plans
8/5/2024 11:36:12 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 5: In a bid to address the concerns of residents in Taraf Manji village, Kathua, where the government has proposed constructing an industrial area, Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana assured the community of all possible support. He revealed that he has already taken up the matter of rehabilitation with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. A deputation of 200 members from the Gujjar community, comprising refugees and tribal, led by Sardar Vardeep Singh, approached MP Khatana seeking his intervention. The MP informed the delegation that he had already discussed the matter with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure rehabilitation and compensation for the affected families. "Rehabilitation and compensation are integral parts of the project for those affected by the creation of the industrial area. Our government will evict people without ensuring their future," said Khatana. He further emphasized the positive impact of the industrial policy, highlighting that it would generate employment opportunities while assuring local traders that their interests would be protected and their rights maintained. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir are fortunate to have an administrator like Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who believes in constructive development rather than destructive policies," Khatana stated. He reassured the deputation that LG Sinha had assured him telephonically that the rehabilitation and compensation for the affected families would be a crucial part of the project. Khatana advised the community not to fall prey to anti-social elements, emphasizing that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, constructive policies are being implemented with the welfare of every individual in mind. "Our PM, Narendra Modi, personally supervises all development projects to ensure that no citizen of India faces discomfort and forced eviction," he added. The deputation, including notable community members such as Surmu Din Khatana, Moulvi Saif Ali, Wagh Hussain, Kasam Din, Talab Hussain, Mohd Shavir, Lal Din and others expressed their trust in PM Modi's leadership. "We believe only PM Modi can deliver justice to us. Over the past five decades, we have turned a desert into fertile land with our hard work. Previous governments never addressed our needs. We request at least five kanal plots for each affected family so that we can rebuild our dream houses," they appealed to the MP. Khatana's commitment to the cause has provided a ray of hope for the residents of Taraf Manji village, who now look forward to a balanced approach that supports industrial development while ensuring the welfare and rights of the local community are safeguarded. The proposed industrial area aims to bring economic growth and job opportunities to the region.
