JAMMU, MARCH 20 -To promote state’s rich art and culture and provide vent to the inner feelings of the artists, the Department of Information organized a Kashmiri mushaira at K L Sehgal Hall here this evening.
The mushaira was organized by the Cultural Unit of Information Department in collaboration with Chirag Foundation Srinagar.
Legendary poet Farooq Nazki, was the chief guest, Secretary Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Mr Zaffar Iqbal Manhas presided Joint Director Information, Jammu, Mr Shyam Bijyal was the guest of honour while Altaf Hussain Malik of Chirag Foundation was special invitee.
On the occasion, reputed poets of the state expressed their views based on ground realities of life. They mesmerizing poetic various enthralled the audience and kept them spellbound for hours together.
The poets who presented their kalams including short stories are Farooq Nazki, Bimla Raina, Mohan Lal Aash, Aseer Kishtwari, Som Nath Vir, Prem Nath Shaad, J N Sagar, P N Swdeshi, Brij Hali, Dr Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Payare Hatash, M L Masroof, P N Koul Sayil, M L Kanwal, Mohi-ud-din Reshi, Prem Nath Prem, Tej Sagar, T N Ganjoo Wishwas and Nisar Azam
As a token of encouragement, the poets were honoured with cash prizes presented by Information Department.
