GDC Khour organized Essay Writing Competition

JAMMU, Aug 8: As a part of ongoing Independence Day Celebration from 1st to 15th August to commemorate 77th Independence Day, NSS and NCC wing of GDC Khour organized an Essay Writing Competition on the topic "India's struggle for freedom." The event was held to encourage students to express their thoughts and ideas on significance of independence and instill a sense of patriotism. Over 40 students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm, showcasing their writing skills and knowledge. The students through their writings depicted the struggle of freedom fighters and their utmost contribution by sacrificing their lives for the attainment of freedom of country. The competition was judged by Prof. Pooja Kumari, HOD English. Rakhi Sharma of Semester Vth bagged 1st position while Mansi Sharma and Aman Kumar scored 2nd and 3rd position respectively. While addressing the students, Prof. (Dr.) T. K. Sharma, Principal GDC Khour stressed on the importance of understanding the value of independence and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and he emphasized that students should take pride in their nation's history and work towards building a better nation. Dr. Sapna Narania, HoD Dogri & Prof. Reeta Menia, HoD Economics were also present on the occasion. Prof Sunil Kumar, Head of Department, Physical Education coordinated the event.
