| Will empower Jammu: BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 20: a day after the Central Election Committee of BJP announced its nominees for two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu division, the state unit today raised the pitch of its campaign on empowerment of Jammu region. The Bharatya Janata Party today said it would take up the issue of discrimination against Jammu and Ladhak regions and campaign for their political empowerment during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. "Jammu & Ladakh regions continue to be discriminated against in many matters, including availability of funds and employment generation, by the Kashmir-centric leadership in the state and BJP leaders will take this issue to the people during the Lok Sabha elections,"the party&aposs pradesh unit president Ashok Khajuria told reporters here. Besides, Jammu province continues to remain deprived politically as it has only 37 assembly seats as against 46 in Kashmir although it has a higher population and larger geographical area compared to the Valley, he said. Khajuria said his party would also take up other issues such as giving compensation and citizenship rights to refugees from Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and underdevelopment of remote areas of the state.
