Inter-College National Anthem Singing Competition Held at GDC Udhampur

Jammu, Aug 9: In compliance with Swatantrata Pakhwara, the Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur successfully hosted the much-anticipated Intercollege National Anthem Singing Competition on 09 August 2024. The event, which brought together students from different colleges of District Udhampur, served as a vibrant platform to showcase the unity and patriotic fervour of the youth through the powerful medium of the National Anthem. The competition was conducted in a highly disciplined and formal atmosphere, reflecting the solemnity and reverence associated with the National Anthem.
The Intercollege National Anthem Singing Competition was envisioned as a means to foster a sense of national pride among young students and to reinforce the values of unity and integrity that are integral to the fabric of our nation. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of six colleges, each represented by a team of talented students who put forth their best efforts in delivering stirring renditions of the National Anthem.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by the Principal of GDC Udhampur, Prof (Dr) Sanjay Verma, who expressed his immense pride in hosting such a significant competition. In his welcome address, he emphasized the importance of instilling a sense of patriotism in the youth and lauded the efforts of all participants for their dedication and commitment to the event.
Each participating team was given a specific time slot to perform, and the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as students from different colleges took the stage. The performances were judged by an esteemed panel comprising Prof Samosh Kumar and Prof Sanjay Kumar. The judges, known for their expertise in music and linguistic studies, evaluated each team based on several criteria, including voice quality, harmony, rhythm, clarity of lyrics, and overall presentation.
The task of judging the competition was no easy feat, given the high level of talent and passion displayed by the participants.
After careful deliberation, the judges announced the winners of the competition. The first prize was awarded to Laksh Dogra (GDC Udhampur), whose flawless performance captivated both the judges and the audience. The second prize went to Mousmi (GCW Udhampur), and Ananya Anthal (GDC Chenani) secured the third position. The winners were presented with trophies and certificates by the chief guest and the judges, who congratulated them on their outstanding performances. The Principal of GDC Udhampur, along with other dignitaries, also felicitated the participants, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Among others Prof Rakesh Kumar Prof Meena Gupta, Prof Monica Thakur, Prof Richa Gupta, Prof Bhanupriya, Prof Sakshi, Prof Shaveta Sharma, Prof Anju Rani, Prof Vijay Kumar, Prof Rajesh Singh Manhas, Prof Rajan Bharti and Prof Asha witnessed the whole event.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Revika Arora, convenor of the Cultural Committee, who acknowledged the contributions of everyone involved in making the competition a memorable one. She also expressed hope that the event would inspire students to carry forward the spirit of patriotism in all their future endeavours.
