| 35 litres of illicit liquor recovered by Police | | |

KATHUA, Aug 9: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police at Kathua District arrested o2 persons in the Korepunnu area of PS Rajbagh & recovered 35 litres of illicit liquor from their possession.
On 08-08-2024 police team led by SHO P/S Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border during naka/ checking at Korepunnu area, apprehended two persons namely 1. Rajesh Kumar S/o Ganju Ram R/o Lachipur Tehsil Marheen, 2. Vicky Kumar S/o Raj Kumar R/o Nurpur District Kangra Himachal Pradesh who were involved in the illegal trade of selling illicit liquor at Korepunnu as well as adjoining area of PS Rajbagh.During checking approx.
35 litres of Illicit liquor was recovered from their illegal possesion which they had kept in order to gain illegitimate profit by selling same to people of the area.Meanwhile all the recovered consignment approx. 35 litres illicit liquor (Desi) was seized and two persons arrested in this connection.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 177/2024 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Rajbagh and investigation has been initiated.
SSP Kathua assures that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
The general public appreciates the efforts of Kathua Police in seizing the Stockpile of Illicit liquor and apprehending the accused and believes that such actions will deter others from engaging in similar activities. |
