Inter-College Poster/Painting competition held

Udhampur, Aug 10: In compliance with Swatantarta Pakhwara, the Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur successfully hosted the much-anticipated Intercollege Painting/Poster making Competition on 10th of August 2024. The theme for the said event “Important events of freedom struggle.” The event, which brought together students from different colleges of District Udhampur, served as a vibrant platform to showcase the unity and patriotic fervour of the youth through the powerful medium of showcasing their talent. The Intercollege Painting/Poster Competition was envisioned as a means to foster a sense of national pride among young students and to reinforce the values of unity and integrity that are integral to the fabric of our nation. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of five colleges, each represented by a talented students who put forth their best effort and ideas pertaining to the theme. The event commenced with a warm welcome by the Principal, GDC Udhampur, Prof (Dr) Sanjay Verma, who expressed his immense pride in hosting such a significant competition. In his welcome address, he emphasized the importance of instilling a sense of patriotism in the youth and lauded the efforts of all participants and their respective colleges for their dedication and commitment to the event.
Every participant was given a specific time slot to paint their ideas related to the theme of the event. The paintings were adjudged by an esteemed panel comprising Prof. Shobha Rani, Prof. Shivi Mehra, and Prof Rajesh Singh Manhas who had an expertise in painting and drawing. The judges evaluated each painting based on several criteria’s including presentation, theme and neatness. The task of judging the competition was not easy feat, given the high level of talent and passion displayed by the participants.
After careful deliberation, the judges announced the winners of the competition. The first prize was awarded to Anisha Sharma(GDC Ramnagar) The second prize went to Sumit Kumar (GDC Udhampur), and Madiha Mir (GDC Neeli Nalah) secured the third position. The Principal of GDC Udhampur, along with other dignitaries, encouraged and praised the participants, recognizing their hard work and dedication. Among others Prof. Parveen Singh, Prof. Sanjeet Singh, Prof. Jasmeet Kour, Prof. Anil Thappa and Prof Shobhna Samyal witnessed the whole event. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Prof Gurpreet Kour coordinator of the event, who acknowledged the contributions of everyone involved in making the competition a memorable one. She also expressed hope that the event would inspire students to carry forward the spirit of patriotism in all their future endeavours.
