| Court awards 1 yr RI to Matador driver for causing accident | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 21- City Judge Jammu, Kusoom Pandita has awarded one year rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 5000 to driver of Matador Mohammed Ashraf who was facing trial for the last more than five years in a accident case in which one CRPF constable was died. Court, after hearing both the sides, convicted and sentenced the accused to rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year with Rs. 5000 as fine. According to the prosecution story on July 20, 2003 at 3.45 PM police received information through reliable sources that Matador being driven by unknown driver from Sidhra towards Jammu rashly, negligently and carelessly could not control the vehicle which turned turtle and committed the accident as a result of which CRPF personnel got seriously injured. Amongst whom Constable Kamleshwar Singh succumbed to injuries. During the investigation it was established that Mohammed Ashraf was driving erring vehicle and committed the accident. A case was registered U/Ss 279/337/338/304-A RPC and challan was presented in the court of law.
