KPS hosts "EK Sham Veero Ke Naam" to honor army veterans on Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 10: Kartar Public School organized a patriotic event, "Ek Sham Veero Ke Naam", in the R60 auditorium as a part of pre Independence Day celebrations to pay tribute to army veterans who have played a prominent role in wars. The event aimed to instill the spirit of patriotism among students and provide them with an opportunity to interact with army officers.
Special guests included Ranjit Pathania, President of the Sports Athletic Club and retired army veteran, along with Risaldar Major Anchal S. Jasrotia, Capt. Karam Singh, Capt. Ranjit Singh, Capt. Kartar Chand, Capt. Narinder Singh, and Capt. Darshan Singh. School management, including Er. Nirmaljit Singh, Chairman of the Kartar Education Trust, Neeraj Thakur, Vice Principal of KPS, and Upinder Bandral, Administrative Officer of KPS, were also present in the presidium.
The highlight of the event was the interactive session, where students had the opportunity to engage in a one-to-one conversation with army officers. The students were curious to know about the officers' experiences in the army, and the officers were more than happy to share their stories.
Students asked a range of questions, including:
- What inspired you to join the army?
- How do you deal with the discipline and hardships in the army?
- Can you share any memorable experiences from your time in war?
- How can we, as students, serve the nation?
The army officers shared their personal experiences, offering valuable insights into life in the army. They emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and dedication. They also guided students on how to choose their career paths and serve the nation, highlighting various opportunities in the armed forces and other fields.
The officers discussed various career options in the army, including:
- Joining the National Defence Academy (NDA)
- Pursuing a career in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force
- Opportunities for engineers, doctors, and other professionals in the armed forces
They also encouraged students to consider other ways to serve the nation, such as:
- Joining the civil services
- Pursuing a career in public service
- Volunteering for social causes
The interactive session was a huge success, with students leaving the event inspired and motivated to serve the nation. The army officers' stories and guidance had a profound impact on the students, who were encouraged to consider a career in the armed forces or other fields that serve the nation.
Ranjit Pathania in his guest speech, applauded and encouraged the school management's initiative in recognizing the contributions of army officers.
Er. Nirmaljit Singh thanked the guests and army officers for inspiring students with their intellectual and real war experiences.
Neeraj Thakur presented the welcome speech, while Subhlata presented the vote of thanks.
The event was a huge success, with students and staff alike feeling inspired by the patriotism and dedication of the army veterans.
