Indian Red Cross Society holds activities

JAMMU, Aug 10: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha (President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K is undertaking a significant humanitarian mission to help the society in different areas of J&K. Today, on 10th August, 2024 IRCS, J&K has conducted series of activities:
Medical and Eye Check-up Camp at University of Jammu: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K successfully organized a free Medical and Eye Check-Up camp for students, employees, and their dependents at Health Centre, University of Jammu in which more than 100 individuals participated. A highlight of the camp was the deployment of a Mobile Testing Van equipped with the latest tools and technology. The mobile van makes it convenient for participants to receive expert care without the need to travel.
A dedicated team from the Red Cross Society, under the guidance of Mr. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary , IRCS JK UT consisting of Dr Manpreet Kour, Medical Officer, Sh Kuldeep Bhat, Sr. Ophthalmic Technician and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer conducted comprehensive eye examinations and provided valuable advice on eye care. Dr. Kour emphasized the importance of a balanced diet in maintaining good eye health and shared tips on how to protect and care for one's vision.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, in charge University Health Centre, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the medical and paramedical staff of Indian Red Cross Society Jammu. He commended their dedication and collaboration in organizing such a beneficial event for the university community. The camp not only provided free eye check-ups but also raised awareness about the significance of regular eye examinations, the importance of early detection of eye-related issues and the role of nutrition in eye health.
Three Days First-Aid Training Programme held at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu:- Indian Red Cross Society, J&K UT organized a three days First-Aid training programme for the employees Uflex Ltd. and Pidilite Industries Ltd., Bari Brahmana, Samba which concluded today on 10th August, 2024. During the 3 days training, different topics were covered like various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, First-Aid Kit, wounds, bandages, types of fractures, bleeding emergencies, burns etc. Emergency technique of handling bleeding patient, Fracture/accident victims was also emphasized. Highlights of the programme were how to resuscitate a patient of fainting and Cardiac Arrest. Emphasis was laid on the Management of injuries, fracture, burns, control of bleeding, practical demonstrations of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Choking. Along with that a special lecture on Drug De-addiction was also organized and free eye check-up of the participants was also done.
