GDC Ramnagar's Red Ribbon Club hosts 'Short Message' writing competition on HIV/AIDS awareness

RAMNAGAR, Aug 12: In observance of International Youth Day 2024, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC), Ramnagar, in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society and the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department of J&K, organized a 'short message' writing competition focused on the theme "Awareness against HIV/AIDS and STDs." The event was held under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, who emphasized the importance of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, especially among the youth.
Students from the college actively participated in the competition, creating impactful short messages that addressed various issues related to HIV causes, prevention, and the urgent need for community education on HIV testing. The submissions were judged by members of the Red Ribbon Club at GDC Ramnagar, and the winners were celebrated for their insightful contributions.
The first prize was awarded to Vansh Modi (B.Sc. Sem 3rd), the second prize to Rama Devi (B.Sc. Sem 3rd), and the third prize to Shivani Salathia (B.Sc. Sem 5th). The participants' messages highlighted the critical public health issue of HIV and the importance of continued education and prevention efforts.
Principal Dr. Bhavnaish Chand lauded the efforts of all participants and the organizing team, underscoring the necessity of conducting more such activities to enhance HIV awareness among the masses. He also presented certificates and refreshments to all participants, recognizing their valuable contributions to the cause.
