JAMMU, Aug 12: The NSS Unit of Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, under the initiative "Veerangana," organized a Swachhta Rally aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness and responsible waste management. The rally, held under the patronage of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College, sought to educate residents on the importance of maintaining a clean environment in their communities.
Dr. Meeru Abrol flagged off the rally, commending the NSS volunteers and faculty members for their dedication to civic responsibilities. She emphasized the importance of not just creating awareness but also adopting these practices in daily life. "You are the future of our nation and should act as responsible citizens," she urged the students during her address.
The rally saw the enthusiastic participation of around 60 students, who marched from the college to the Ambika Vihar residential area. The students raised slogans like "Humne Yeh Thana hai, Bharat ko Swachh Banana hai," "Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat," and "Jan Jan ko do Yeh Sandesh, Sunder ho Apna Desh," which drew the attention of local residents. Many residents stepped out of their homes to appreciate the students' efforts, recognizing the need for cleanliness and responsible waste management in every community. The event was organized by Dr. Preeti Salathia, NSS Programme Officer, along with Dr. Kamaldeep Singh. Faculty members Prof. Anju Bala, Dr. Pavanjeet Bali, and Prof. Gagan Jyoti also played a significant role in the success of the rally.
