| Transforming educational strata govt’s priority: Peerzada | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, MARCH 21– Terming transformation of the educational strata at all levels as the prime agenda of the government, the Minister for Education and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, today said that children from all sections of society, particularly those of migrant families would be provided every opportunity to enable them compete in today’s globalized era through quality education in the right academic environment.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing a meeting convened to take stock of the availability of teaching faculty and infrastructure in the schools for children of families who have migrated to Jammu city and areas around it. He directed the officials of the department of Relief Commissioner to supplement their efforts for the cause by providing necessary relief for equipping such schools with the required infrastructure.
Peerzada directed for constitution of a team headed by Joint Director Education, Jammu and comprising of CEOs of Jammu and Udhampur, Nodal officer Udhampur and Chief Accounts Officer, Migrant Cell to ascertain the deficiencies of staff and infrastructure in the Migrant schools. The team would visit the eight migrant schools in the area and submit their report along with suggestions to the Minister within a week.
The Minister said that the step is an initiative of the government to strengthen the educational infrastructure in the State, adding that the future of a nation depends upon the quality of education being given to the students and no compromise would be made in shaping this resource to the optimal level.
Secretary Education Mr. G.A. Peer, while speaking on the occasion, said that the essence of a government should lie not only in setting the present on the right track but, it should evolve long term strategies to take care of the future. He said that Education department has a pivotal role in formulating a road map to take care of present and future needs to realize the goal of total literacy in the State.
Among others, Relief Commissioner Mr. Vinod Koul, Director Education, Jammu Mrs. Zahida Khan, CEO, Jammu Mr. Suresh Sharma, CEO, Udhampur Mrs. V. R. Sharma, CAO, Migrant Cell Mrs. Neelam Gupta, Principal Mr. Chand Ji and officials from engineering department were also present in the meeting.
