Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Aug 14: As part of the ongoing 78th Independence Day celebrations, Government Degree College (GDC), Ramban, organized a series of vibrant cultural events that captivated both students and faculty alike. The highlight of the day was the Nukkad Natak (street plays) performed with great enthusiasm by the students.
Two plays were presented during the event, each addressing critical social and environmental issues. The first play, titled "Beti Bachao: Beti Padhao," focused on the importance of curbing female infanticide and the need to educate the girl child. Through powerful performances, the students highlighted the pressing issue of gender inequality and the crucial role education plays in empowering women.
The second performance, themed "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," was dedicated to environmental awareness. This play emphasized the importance of planting trees in honor of mothers, symbolizing the nurturing role both mothers and trees play in sustaining life. The message was clear: environmental responsibility starts with individual actions, such as planting a sapling.
In addition to the street plays, the event also featured folk group dance performances, with the traditional "Thalli Dance" being the most notable. The students' energetic performances added a touch of cultural heritage to the celebrations.
