Plantation drive held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra

REASI, Aug 14: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Go Green Katra collaborately organised the plantation drive here today at KVK, Reasi campus which was attended by many farmers and school children of Govt.Middle School,Dera Baba of the area. The drive was organised under the dynamic leadership of Prof.B.N.Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor and able guidance of Prof. Amrish Vaid,Director Extension of SKUAST-J. Dr. Banarsi Lal,Chief Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, SKUAST-J warmly welcomed the participants. He briefed the objectives of the programme and highlighted the importance of plantation of trees for the protection of environment.He discussed on global warming and guided participants on the techniques to overcome its ill effects.He also discussed on the various kinds of pollutions and their ill effects and urged participants to plant more and more plants so as to mitigate such problems. Project Director of Go Green Katra of Wildlife Conservation ,Sh.Dheeraj Thapa stressed on the plantation of more and more saplings for the well-being of the human beings and other living organisms. He guided the participants about the various conservative practices to safeguard the environment. Dr.Arvinder Kumar also spoke on soil and water conservation practices and stressed on more plantation. On this occasion a plantation drive was also undertaken with the plantation of different kinds of plants in the campus. Various fruits/agroforestry/medicinal plants were also distributed during the event.
