CGPWA celebrated I-Day with Fervor

Jammu, Aug 15: The Central Govt Pensioners’ Welfare, Jammu (CGPWA) celebrated 78th Independence Day with usual zeal & fervor. Former DGP Dr Ashok Bhan and fifty former senior civil servants joined to hoist Tricolor at a function held at Day Care Centre at Exhibition Ground here, followed by national anthem, Jana Gana Mana Adhinaayak Jaya Hey… the grand finale of the function was the chorus sung by Pensioners with Dr. Bhan in the lead, a stanza taken from the evergreen Lata Mangeshkar’s 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon', - “Sikh koi jaat maraatha koi gurakha koi madarassi. sarhad par maranevaala, har veer tha bharatavaasi; Jo khoon gira parvat par, ho khoon tha hindustani jo shajeed hue Hein unki zaraa yaad karo kurbani...." Everyone felt great after singing together. It was a tribute to all those people in uniform who gave their lives in line of their duty for the country.

The Gandhinagar Greenbelt Morning Walkers Association also celebrated the country's 78th I-Day with great enthusiasm. Two senior members- Er Lalit Mengi & Er. JBS Johar, both former Chief Engineers, jointly unfurled the national flag. Braving rains, about two hundred and fifty morning walkers, Yoga practitioners and their families took part in the function. Noted Urologist, Dr C L Gupta spoke on Independence Day and the need to strengthen this independence at every cost. Children sang patriotic songs. The entire park was tastefully decorated with Tricolor.
