Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 17: The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of ASCOMS Medical College and Hospital has declared its solidarity with the nationwide protests that have erupted following the tragic rape and murder of a resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. This horrifying incident has deeply shocked the medical community and ignited protests across the country, calling for immediate action to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals.
In a strong show of support, the resident doctors, faculty, and staff of ASCOMS Medical College and Hospital have joined the ongoing protests. In response to this tragedy, the hospital has suspended all non-essential and elective services, including Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations, operating theaters (OTs), and ward services, to underscore the gravity of the situation.
"The heartbreaking event has resonated deeply with us all," stated a representative of the RDA. "We call on government authorities and medical bodies to urgently address the safety concerns within our profession and implement robust measures to safeguard healthcare professionals. Our unity in this cause reflects our collective resolve to end such violence."
The protests underscore the urgent need for enhanced security measures and stronger legal protections for medical professionals, who often work under challenging and dangerous conditions. The RDA at ASCOMS Medical College and Hospital has vowed to continue their participation in these protests until significant steps are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all healthcare workers across the nation.
The call for action extends beyond the medical community, urging broader societal change to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
