Healthcare professionals demand justice for Kolkata colleague

DODA, Aug 18: In a demonstration of solidarity and protest, the Doda's healthcare professionals joined by the students of Govt ANMT School Doda, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Parisha & Palash Child Care Institute, Doda Civil Society, Women Hub for Empowerment & Tejas Ek Pahal Foundation (NGO) organized a peaceful candle march to condemn the horrific rape of a 31 years old PG trainee doctor at RK Kar Medical College in Kolkata.
The event which was organized on the call of All J&K National Health Mission Employees & JK Medical Employees Federation Doda, commenced from CMO Office Doda and marched through different routes of Doda Town and later on proceeded to Clock Tower Dessa road chowk with a significant turnout of women and assembled there for hours. The participants holding placards, walked in silence with candle in hands a symbol of grief for the rape victim and a demand for justice.
While addressing the large gathering, Sr Vice President of JKNHMEA Jammu Division Mr Faizan A Tramboo expresses his deep anguish and outrage over the incident, "This henious crime is not just an attack on an individual but on entire womanhood. We demand that the peepetrators be brought to justice without any delay, he said".
Tramboo also emphasizes the need for stronger laws and their strict enforcement to prevent such crimes in the future, adding that the peaceful protest was also aimed to raise awareness about the increasing dangers faces by the healthcare workers particularly females and the urgent need for legal reforms to safeguars their lives while they service the public.
Others speakers which includes President NHM Employees Association Doda Dr Nasir Masood, President MEF Doda Mr Hoshyar Singh, President Doda Development Front Mr Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev and Chairman Tejas Ek Pahal Foundation (NGO) Mr Akash Parihar in their speeches strongly condemned the barbaric act where a PG Medical Student has been brutally raped & murdered, demand fast track investigation of the matter and stern punishment to those behind this heniois crime.
Meanwhile, among others the candle march protest was also joined by Ms Sandhya Thakur (Centre Administrator, Sakhi One Stop Centre & Mission Shakti Doda), Dr Sanya Khan (Gender Specialist), Ms Humerah Balwan (Gender Specialist) both from Sankalp Women Hub for Empowerment Doda, Chander Rekha (Superintendent Palash Doda) and Sangeeta Rani (Incharge Parisha), who in their messages also conveyed their solidary with the victim's family and demand just for the PG trainee. Their participation underscores that the collective commitment to addressing issues of women's safety and ensuring that such incidents are not tolerated.
