| Bomai residents put off mass migration | | | Early Times Report Baramulla, Mar 21 : The Bomai residents, resuming their normal activities today, decided to postpone their programme of mass migration from the village, following announcement by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah that the Rashtriya Rifle (RR) camp would be relocated. Shops and other business establishments reopened in village Bomai, Sopore, this morning after two days of total shut down. The Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the agitation against the RR after two youths were killed in alleged unprovoked firing by them on February 21, said it decided to postpone the agitation, following Mr Omar's announcement.
The residents were up in arms demanding shifting of the RR camp from the area. Mr Omar last evening said the camp will be relocated to another place as agreed by the Army authorities. The announcement came hours after Army Court of Inquiry (CoI) held a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two soldiers responsible for killing two people last month. The Chief Minister has directed Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, to identify a place, where the RR camp would be set up. However, he said the entire process will take less than a week. |
