| J&K presents world new Islamic calendar | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar. 21: A Jammu and Kashmir based engineer has come out with a 504-year cyclical chart so that countries celebrating Islamic holidays do not face confusion over Islamic calendar dates. 'I have revised a lunar calendar for 504-years. The work, the approach is totally unprecedented and in my assessment the whole thing will go a long way in preserving the chaotic conditions that we face time and again,' Bilal Ghulam Nabi Mir said. Welcoming Mir's invention, President of Jamiat-Ahle-Hadis has forwarded his project to the Religious Affairs Ministry of Saudi Arabia for further analysis. 'I have sent a copy (of Bilal Ghulam Nabi Mir's research work) to the Religious Affairs Ministry of the Saudi Arabia Government, and appealed to them that a great scholar from our state has done such a great job and asked them if it could be taken further,' said Molvi Showkat Shah, President, Jamiat-Ahle-Hadis. The Islamic calendar follows the phases of the moon, which plays an important part in change of the dates. |
