JAMMU, Aug 20: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, under the aegis of its Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti, hosted a special guest lecture by Dr. Manmohan Vaidya, All India Executive Committee Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on the profound topic "Indian Concept of India' on 20th Aug 2024, Mandapam, Auditorium. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu also graced the occasion. Present on the occasion was Shri Rupesh Kumar Mehta, Prant Pracharak,J & K, RSS.
Dr. Manmohan Vaidya, a distinguished scholar and an influential figure in India's socio-cultural landscape, delivered a thought-provoking lecture that delved into the Indian concept of nationhood and the rich cultural heritage that shapes the country's identity. He emphasized the critical need for India to define its national identity, stating that unless the people decide who they are, they cannot determine the direction they need to take. He described Bharat as unique in its spiritual essence, which transcends cultural boundaries and forms the core of its identity. He highlighted that India has a culture that celebrates diversity, and this diversity must be seen as a strength in defining the nation's path forward. Without a unified understanding of this identity, he suggested, the nation struggles to find its direction. His insights underscored the importance of self-awareness in India's journey of rebuilding and progress, drawing parallels with other nations like Japan and Israel that have successfully defined their identities and paths forward. His lecture urged the audience to reflect on India's unique spiritual and cultural strengths and to contribute to the nation's development with a clear sense of purpose and direction.
In his address, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, welcomed Dr. Manmohan Vaidya and emphasized the significance of such discussions in an academic setting. He remarked, "Unless we decide who we are as a people, we cannot determine the direction we need to take. Bharat is a land with diverse perspectives, yet we lack a unified understanding of our identity, which has led to a lack of clear direction. The true essence of Bharat lies in its spiritual foundation and cultural ethos." He also reflected on the remarkable growth of IIM Jammu, which has expanded from 47 students to over 1,000 in a short span of time, along with an array of programs. He emphasized the importance of engaging with opportunities like Dr. Vaidya's lecture to gain deeper insights into India's core thought process. He urged everyone to prioritize the nation above all and to seek guidance on how they can better contribute to India's progress.
The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti, IIM Jammu.
