GDC RS Pura hosts lecture on Banking and Cyber Crime

RS PURA, Aug 21: The Department of Economics, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics at Govt. Degree College (GDC) R.S. Pura, organized an insightful lecture on "Banking and Cyber Crime" to educate students about the growing threats in the digital age. The event featured Rohit Gupta, Manager of Home Loans at the State Bank of India (SBI), as the resource person.
During the lecture, Gupta highlighted the increasing risk of cyber-attacks within educational institutions. He explained that such attacks not only cause financial losses and operational disruptions but also pose serious threats to student safety. He stressed the importance of identifying potential cybersecurity threats and implementing robust defense mechanisms to prevent these threats from materializing.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of GDC R.S. Pura, who underscored the significance of cyber crime education. She emphasized that equipping students with knowledge about cyber security empowers them to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and ethically. Additionally, it fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, essential in today's technology-driven society. Dr. Shivani Manchanda, Head of the Department of Economics, formally welcomed the guests and later expressed gratitude during the vote of thanks. The event saw the participation of notable dignitaries, including Parneet Singh, Deputy Manager of Home Loans, Vivek Singh, Real Estate Pre-Approved Properties, and esteemed faculty members Dr. Neena Gupta, Dr. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Dr. Kiran Pathania, Dr. Raj Kumari, Dr. Savtanter Kour, Prof. Jugal Kishore, Prof. Jai Mala Thakur, Prof. Neelam Kumari, and Prof. Harpreet Kour. The lecture was a significant step towards raising awareness about cyber crime and fostering a culture of cyber vigilance among students.
