Walkathon/Rally Organized by Red Ribbon Club at GDC Mahanpur

Jammu, Aug 22: In a significant event aimed at raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting national integration, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Mahanpur, Kathua, in collaboration with the J&K AIDS Control Society, organized a Walkathon/Rally on the occasion of International Youth Day 2024.
The rally was flagged off by the esteemed Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, who was accompanied by other faculty members. More than a hundred students from B.A Semester 3rd and 5th actively participated in the event.
The rally served as a platform for students to recite slogans focusing on National Integration and raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, particularly among the youth of India.
The students, energized by the cause, marched through the entire campus, continuously reciting slogans and singing songs that highlighted the importance of awareness on HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD), and Urinary Tract Infections (UTI).
Patriotic songs were also sung, aiming to instill a sense of national pride and unity among the student community.
The rally was not just a walk; it was a movement aimed at educating the masses, especially the youth, about critical health issues and the importance of national integration. The efforts of the Red Ribbon Club, under the guidance of its Convenor, Dr. Sapna Devi, were highly appreciated by the Principal, who commended the outstanding performance and dedication of the team in organizing such an impactful event.
Other faculty members who played a key role in the rally included Dr. Mohinder Nath, Dr. Sudesh Kumar, and Dr. Nisha Bhagat.
Their presence alongside the students emphasized the college’s commitment to social causes and the overall development of its students.
The rally was a resounding success, markin g International Youth Day 2024 with a message of health awareness and national unity, leaving a lasting impression on the participants and the larger college community.
