Signature campaign under SVEEP organised at GDC Sarh Bagga Mahore

JAMMU, Aug 22: GDC Sarh Bagga Mahore hosted a significant 'Signature Campaign' under the aegis of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative in view of the upcoming Assembly Elections in the UT of J&K. The campaign was aimed at enhancing electoral literacy and promoting active participation among the students and staff of the college, as well as the local community.
The primary objective of the campaign was to raise awareness about the importance of voting, encourage first-time voters to register, and motivate all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections. The campaign also emphasized the role of informed and ethical voting in strengthening democracy. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and local residents. Approximately 150 participants signed the pledge, committing themselves to participate in the electoral process responsibly. The campaign started with a brief session explaining the significance of SVEEP and the importance of voting.
An oath-taking ceremony was held where participants pledged to vote without any bias, based on informed choices.
A White Marker Board was placed at the main college entrance where participants signed their names as a symbol of their commitment to the democratic process.
Prof. Ajaz Ahmed Malik, Nodal Officer SVEEP 56- Gulabgarh Constituency (ST), in his address, highlighted the importance of youth participation in elections and how their involvement can bring about positive change in society.
Faculty members also shared their insights on the importance of voting and encouraged students to educate others in their communities.
The campaign successfully spread awareness about the importance of voting and civic engagement. It not only educated the participants about their electoral rights but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards nation-building. The large turnout and the enthusiastic response were testament to the campaign's effectiveness.
The Signature Campaign at GDC Sarh Bagga Mahore under the SVEEP initiative was a resounding success. It marked a significant step towards promoting electoral participation and fostering a culture of informed voting. The event concluded with a renewed sense of civic duty among the participants, setting a positive example for the broader community.
