GDC Udhampur (Boys) celebrates National Space Day

UDHAMPUR, Aug 23: India had successfully landed its Chandrayan 3 Vikram lander on the Lunar South Pole region on August 23, 2023. To commemorate this feat every year August 23 has been declared as "National Space Day" by the Government of India.
In this regard, Science Club of GDC Udhampur celebrated the National Space Day on 23-08-24 with the aim to engage and inspire the youth of the College towards Space Technology and its application. The event started with the Documentary session on "Chandrayan 3, journey to the Moon".
This was followed by a lecture on the theme "Touching lives while touching the Moon: India's space saga". The resource person for the talk was Dr Anita Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Physics. She talked on India's remarkable achievements in space, profound benefits to the society and boundless opportunities for people from all walks of life to engage with Indian Space Programme. An interactive session of the speaker with the students highlighted the keen interests and queries of the students for Space technology and information. The audience also witnessed the main event live streaming from Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Dr Sanjay Verma, Principal, GDC Udhampur congratulated all on this occasion and said that organizing such events in the educational institutions will definitely create more interest among students for space technology and will inspire youth towards the application part of space information and technology.
The programme was organized by Science Club and Department of Physics of GDC Udhampur. The members who were present in the event were Prof Shobhna Sambyal (Convener Science Club), Prof Suresh Dogra(HOD Physics), Dr Sukh Chain, Dr Anita Sharma , Dr Gurpreet Kour, Dr. Neena Sharma, Dr Jagjeet Singh, Prof Jyoti Sharma, Dr Bandana Mazal, Dr Richa Sharma, Dr Jasmeet Kour, Prof Asha Sohil.
