| Pathania criticize ERA authorities for holding payment of people | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 22: The advocate R.S. Pathania of Ramnagar assembly segment has criticized the ERA authorities as well state government for holding the payment of compensation to the people who lose their shops, homes and land on account of road widening programme in the area. He in a memorandum submitted to the chief minister, Omar Abdullah has demanded a probe into the matter as according to him, some vested interests both in Govt. and ERA are trying to sabotage the work on the project. Pathania is also up-in-arms against the violation of the Central Line by the construction agency. He said while formulating the project a central line was earmarked jointly by the ERA as well as the construction agency. But for reasons best known the central line has been thrown into winds and the construction company in collusion with E.R.A. wants to make an easy buck out of the money earmarked for the project. It is due to the fact that originally the road had been got constructed long back by some private parties, and that even, without any technical guidance. He said at the time of formulation of project, it was specially stipulated that alignment of road, steepness of curves, gradient and curvature degrees would also be looked into a fresh resulting into shortening of the road length and its grooming into as a ‘Speed Road’. But, as on date, the construction agency has been doing nothing of the sort but expanding the road by 3-4 feet on both the sides. In the memorandum, Pathania has thrown light on the sub-standard execution of work on the said road project as the same seems to be part of a nefarious design to gobble up 42 crores of ADB-funded money.
