Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 23: Within hours of his reappointment as election incharge in the crucial Jammu and Kashmir ahead of assembly polls, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ram Madhav is busy holding back-to-back closed-door meetings in Jammu and Srinagar to shortlist winnable candidates for the party.
Highly placed sources said that during the last two days, Ram Madhav has convened half a dozen closed-door meetings in Srinagar and Jammu with senior functionaries of the party and the Sangh Parivar to identify candidates who have the potential to win the elections.
“Although panels of three candidates for each assembly constituency were already constituted by the party, the appointment of Ram Madhav as election incharge has changed the whole exercise”, sources said and added that Ram Madhav will play an important role in the selection of candidates.

The appointment of Ram Madhav as election incharge has changed the whole scenario.
Ram Madhav has returned to J&K just ahead of the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir assembly election.
Madhav played a crucial role in establishing a BJP government in J&K in 2015 and was instrumental in forming an alliance with the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
ishing a BJP government in the Valley in 2014 and was instrumental in forming an alliance with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015. After a five-year political exile, Madhav's return to active politics indicates a renewed dependency on theRSS to tackle complex political issues. His appointment reflects the BJP's ability to adapt and approach relevant individuals when needed.
Madhav's previous work in Jammu and Kashmir laid the groundwork for the BJP's approach to the region. Although he was not directly involved in the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, his networks in political circles and the media are expected to benefit the party.
Sources in the RSS suggest that Madhav's appointment is just the beginning of many changes expected in the party. The BJP faces challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in maintaining peace in the Valley. Madhav's connections across party lines and his understanding of the region's politics are seen as assets in reaching out to unlikely allies and candidates.
