| JKAACL’s organizes north east folk dance festival at Chinji Makwal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 22: The North East Festival of Folk Dances organized by, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala was inaugurated at Chinji Makwal in Kathua district today. In the festival more than 130 artists from Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Assam and Mizoram performed sub-divisional magistrate, Billawar M. Raju was the Chief Guest on the occasion. On the occasion Manipuri artists presented Dhol Dholak Cholam and Lai Hasoba folk dance, Sikkim artists performed Tamang Selo, artists from Meghalaya presented Wangla, artists of Nagaland performed Roina, Assam artists present Bardoi Shikhla and artists from Mizoram presented Cheraw folk dances and enthralled the local audience of Chinji Makwal. SDM, while speaking on the occasion, congratulated the artists from north eastern states of the country said that India have various Cultural, traditions and costumes and its diverse culture is the real identity of grate India while appreciating this cultural bonanza displayed by the artists. He said that such cultural programme aware the common folk about the rich traditions and cultural of our country and interactions and cultural exchanges make the country more united and strong. Earlier, while welcoming the audience, Shamima Akhtar, S.O.C.A (J) G-I gave detailed about the future activates of the Cultural Academy and also told the audience that Academy is commuted to give priority to the border and rural area.
