Prof. Iqtidar Khan of JMI delivers extension lecture at GDC Thannamandi

Thannamandi, Aug 24: Prof. Iqtidar Mohd. Khan, Head Department of Islamic Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi delivered an extension lecture on the "Moral Perspective of Youth and Nation Building" at GDC Thannamandi here today.
The Department of Islamic Studies at Govt. Degree College Thannamandi, under the aegis of the Higher Education Department of Jammu & Kashmir, hosted the event under the banner of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan that brought together academicians and students to explore the crucial role of youth in the development of a strong and morally grounded nation.
Dr. Iqtidar Mohd Khan who was chief guest and resource person on the occasion, delivered a thought-provoking and interactive lecture that emphasized upon the ethical responsibilities of the younger generation in nation-building efforts. His address highlighted the significance of moral education and the necessity of cultivating a sense of responsibility among youth to contribute positively to society. He underlined the role of moral perspectives in combating menace of drugs from society and the country at large. Youth is the backbone of sustainable development and only a healthy youth, free from drugs, can build a stronger and healthier nation at par with ideals of Viksit Bharat @2047, he added.
The program was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of Govt. Degree College Thannamandi. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Head Department of History was convener whereas Dr. Nazar Ul Islam, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies at college was organizing secretary of the event. Dr. Farooq Ahmed lauded the initiative and stressed the importance of such educational events in shaping the future of the nation.
Special Guest, Dr. Naseem Gul Dar, Head Department of Islamic Studies at BGSB University Rajouri, also addressed the gathering, offering insights into the historical context of youth and the role they can play in nation-building.
Earlier, Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, Nodal Officer, Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan at College, welcomed the guests and Prof Rumy Dar, Head Department of English introduced the resource person.
Dr. Nazar Ul Islam conducted the proceedings of the programme whereas Dr. Ashaq Malik, Head Department of Botany and IQAC Co-ordinator presented formal vote of thanks.
The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and invited guests, all of whom engaged in a fruitful discussion on the themes presented. The lecture was well-received, with attendees expressing a renewed sense of commitment to fostering a healthy and vibrant youth community. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Asif Lone, Prof. Supriya Gupta, Dr. Junaid Ahmed, Dr. Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Dr. Nagina Kouser and Prof Rizwana.
