Gupta cautions about ramifications of lowering guards
3/22/2009 10:57:11 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 22- Emphasizing the need for taking timely measures to check the infiltration of the trained ultras from across the Line of Control, the senior BJP leader and MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that reports suggest that a large number of trained ultras have gathered close to the LOC and along Jammu border to create trouble in the state during the forthcoming Parliament elections.
Commenting upon the incidents of ceasefire violations in the Uri and other sectors of the Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. Gupta said that there are reports that large numberof trained terrorists have been gathered close to the LOC as also along the Jammu border. The violations of ceasefire indicate that Pakistan troops wanted to play their old game of giving covering fire to the ultras for infiltration to this side and smuggle weapons and explosives.
There could be many reasons for intensifying the infiltrations bids because of turmoil in Pakistan and the enemy designs to disturb the coming Lok Sabha polls, in addition to create problems as usual in the past at the beginning of tourist season, he added and observed that Pakistan has not given up its designs which are evident from the existence of infrastructure of cross border terror in POK/Pak, he added.
While the intensions of perpetrators of cross border terror are very much evident, the secessionists in certain parts of the Valley have already started creating law and order problems but it was unfortunate that the National Conference and the erstwhile ruling party viz the PDP are in a race to woo the sentiments of the separatists. But this would be a big folly to lower the guards under pressures and thus, play the game of the enemy, the BJP leader added and asked the nationalists in and outside the State to take note of the developments taking in J&K as also on the borders.
Prof. Gupta regretted that Congress had never a Kashmir policy and their only aim had been to share the power with any outfit, it may be the PDP or the NC. In the situation it is for the nationalist to assert and expose the designs of the enemy as also those of the semi-separatists and that of the Congress to save this part of the Country from any more troubles and turmoil, he asserted and asked all concerned that the forces should not be maligned under cover of human rights violations as they are fighting a proxy war launched by Pakistan and it was a part of the enemy propaganda to raise the boggy of such violations. Every step should be taken by taking into the account the various aspects of this fight against terror, he remarked.
