Early Times Report
SAMBA, Aug 27: Anti-Ragging Awareness Camp was organised by the Anti ragging cell of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College Samba in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) under the guidance of the revered Principal, Prof (Dr.) Twinkle Suri to address the serious issue of ragging in educational institutions. Hitesh Sharma, Advocate DLSA, the resource person for the event delivered a compelling keynote address focusing on the legal ramifications of ragging under the Anti-Ragging Act. The camp aimed at educating students about the legal implications of ragging and promote a zero-tolerance policy against such behaviour. The resource person discussed the anti-ragging laws in detail, including the roles and responsibilities of students, faculty, college administration and parents in preventing such acts. The address underscored the necessity for students to understand that engaging in or tolerating ragging can have severe legal and academic consequences. The camp also featured real-life case studies aiming at nurturing a safe and respectful campus environment and was attended by volunteers of Shikshit Bharat, Pravad Electoral club, NSS and NCC wings. The event concluded with an interactive session where students asked pertinent questions about their rights, to which the legal expert responded with clarity and reassurance. This joint effort by the DLSA and the college underscores the commitment to safeguarding students' rights and fostering a culture of dignity, respect, and mutual understanding in educational institutions.
