Sports awareness campaign in full swing in schools of zone Pouni

POUNI, Aug 27: Sports awareness is gaining momentum in various schools across Zone Pouni, Reasi, as part of the "Beti Ko Khiladi Banao" initiative. This effort, led by Anuradha Sharma, an NIS Wrestling coach, is aimed at encouraging young girls to participate in sports, especially wrestling, ahead of National Sports Day on August 29, 2024, at Girls High School Pouni.
Anuradha Sharma emphasized the importance of sports awareness in identifying and developing talent for future competitions. She urged girl students to take part in various sports, particularly wrestling, where free coaching will be provided, along with opportunities to compete in different events.
The sports awareness campaign was officially launched by Sahil Randhawa, Tehsildar Pouni, at Girls High School Pouni, with the goal of encouraging mass participation in sports during the National Sports Day celebrations.
G.L. Sharma, Principal of GHSS Bharakh, praised Anuradha Sharma for her voluntary efforts to motivate students, especially girls, under the Prime Minister's initiative "Beti Bachao, Beti Ko Khiladi Banao."
As part of the event, medicinal plants were planted in the school premises. Additionally, the girl's wrestling team from Pouni, along with their coach Anuradha Sharma, who has brought honor to the area in various wrestling competitions like those in Moungri and Shiv Khori, were felicitated by the Principal of GHSS Bharakh.
Raj Kumar Sharma, Head Master of GHS Kheralair, expressed his gratitude for organizing the talent hunt program in various schools, noting that it will open new opportunities for sports development in District Reasi.
