GCW organises series of activities under SVEEP to bring electoral awareness

Jammu, Aug 29: In an effort to enhance electoral awareness and encourage active participation in the forthcoming General Elections for the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly 2024, P.S.P.S. Government College for Women, Gandhinagar, Jammu, launched a series of activities under the Electoral Literacy Club (ELCs) on August 29, 2024. This initiative forms part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program. The inaugural activity of this series was the ELC Wall Magazine Competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. The competition adhered to the theme “Participate, Engage, and Vote,” with a total of 25 students presenting their creative work through posters, charts, and various visual materials highlighting the significance of voting and civic engagement.
The competition was adjudicated by Dr. Rupinder Kour HOD, Department of Education, Dr. Renu Anand HOD, Department of Mathematics, and Dr. Bindu Chib HOD, Department of Hindi. Following a thorough evaluation, the winners were announced as follows: Syona Gupta secured the first place, while Ramandeep and Ojasvi achieved second and third places, respectively.
Dr. S.P. Saraswat, the esteemed Patron of the college, appreciated the efforts of students in bringing the importance of electoral participation to the forefront and offered valuable insights into the SVEEP program.
The event was followed by a rally in the college campus. Dr. Vikas Sharma ( JKAS) ACD Jammu, Ms. Rasika Sikka BDO( HQ) and DLMTs SVEEP District Jammu were also part of the rally and interacted with the students regarding voting rights.
