GDC, RS Pura celebrates "National Sports Day - 2024"

RS PURA, Aug 29: Govt. Degree college, R.S. Pura commemorated "National Sports Day" on 29th of August, 2024. Sports activities were organised by the Department of Physical Education and Sports. A Yoga session was arranged, wherein faculty members and students performed various asanas. Later an indoor sport meet was organised where students played games like chess and carrom. A chess competition was organised for the students. Large number of students competed and performed well. Worthy Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour impressed upon the students to include yoga and sports in their daily routine. She stresses that yoga enables a strong mind and a healthy body, whereas sports whether indoor or outdoor help students to develop the ethics of discipline and mutual trust and also enhance team spirit, self confidence and mental/ physical toughness.
The whole programme was efficiently coordinated and managed by Dr. Roopali Slathia, Pysical Director of the college. The winners of the chess were Diksha Sharma was winner and Chanda Chib stood Runner-up and in boys category Anurag Bharat was winner and Lovedeep Kumar stood Runner-up, players were facilitated by the worthy Principal. The staff members who were present during the programme to make it successful were Prof. Shifali Abrol, Dr. Kiran Pathania, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhyay, Prof. Neelam Kumari, Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, Prof. Vajeeta Anand, Dr. Rakesh Kalotra and Dr. Savleen Kour.
