BIS conducted 2-day review meeting at SKICC Srinagar | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Review meeting of the Northern Regional Office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) concluded on Wednesday at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. Director General of BIS, Sh. Pramod Kumar Tiwari, IAS was the chief guest at the event. The meeting was attended by senior officials along with the officers from all branch offices located in Northern Region of BIS. The meeting emphasized on implementation of Indian standards across Industries, connecting different stakeholders in standardization Ecosystem, creating awareness among Common Consumer and the role of BIS in promoting "Make in India" initiatives. A press conference was held during the meeting in which Director General emphasized on the Role of BIS in Standardization and quality ecosystem of Country. He also spoke about need of BIS care and consumer awareness programs organized by BIS Sh. HJS Pasricha, Deputy Director General Certification, reviewed the certification process and implementation of guidelines on enhanced Surveillance of Industries. The importance of dynamic and risk-based approach was also discussed. Smt. Sneh Lata, Deputy Director General North also reviewed the performance of branches under Northern Region and advised the officers to follow a hand holding approach for manufacturers. The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations for improving the standardization and quality ecosystem of the region which will help in driving economic growth through standardization. |
