| Commercial Taxes seizes 4 vehicles, imposes Rs.1.90 lakh penalty | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 23- A team of Vigilance and Inspections Wing of Commercial Taxes Department under the supervision of Shamsher Bahadur Deputy Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection of commercial vehicles along Samba-Udhampur Highway at Nun and seized four vehicles along with goods for suspected under valuation and concealment of goods. The vehicles seized included two vehicles carrying trade goods, one vehicle carrying sanitary ware and the other carrying crockery. The vehicles were put to physical checking and penalty to the tune of Rs.1, 90, 805 was levied and recovered on spot from the offenders under different provisions of VAT Act 2005. The team during the checking found two bundles in excess in vehicle NO 02A 6212 carrying trade goods while in another vehicle NO JK05 A 6730 carrying crockery goods declaring consignment valued at Rs.16, 800 at Lakhanpur check post whereas on physical verification the value was assessed at Rs.4, 94, 060 and the case was referred to Additional Commissioner Taxes Administration for final decision. The team with the assistance of SDPO City also recovered s.69, 797 from Rajesh Kumar son of Girdhari Lal of Panjtirthi Jammu for carrying silver/gold ornaments in concealed manner Deputy Commissioner has once again warned to all the transport carriers/ owners of commercial vehicles and dealers in particular not to indulge in any practice of tax evasion as every such measure will be dealt with firmly under the law.
