Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 30: Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, under the esteemed leadership of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol, recently held an interactive session focused on evaluating and reflecting on the summer internships undertaken by Semester 5 students. This session served as both a review and an enriching dialogue that highlighted the significance of practical experience in shaping students' professional skills.
The event, expertly coordinated by Dr. Mosmi Raina, Convenor of the Summer Internship Program, brought together students, faculty, and the principal for a comprehensive discussion. The students, who interned at a variety of prestigious institutions, had the chance to present their experiences in a structured and formal environment, offering insights into the diverse professional settings they encountered.
Internships covered a wide range of sectors, providing students with exposure to various professional environments. Those interning at financial institutions such as J&K Bank and J&K Grameen Bank gained hands-on experience in banking operations, customer service, and financial management. Students who interned at the Drug De-addiction Centre at District Police Lines, Jammu, played a crucial role in social services, working closely with healthcare professionals to understand the complexities of addiction treatment and rehabilitation.
In the food and dairy industries, students were involved in quality control, production processes, and supply chain management, gaining insights into the operational dynamics of these essential sectors. Meanwhile, students interning with news channels and community radio stations at the University of Jammu explored the media landscape, gaining experience in journalism, content creation, and broadcasting.
During their presentations, students detailed their roles, responsibilities, and the skills they developed during their internships. They highlighted specific projects, challenges they faced, and how they applied theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. This not only showcased their contributions but also reflected the broad scope and diversity of the internship program at GCW Bhagwati Nagar.
Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol praised the students for their dedication and the depth of their presentations. She emphasized the critical role internships play in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional application. Dr. Abrol expressed her satisfaction with the wide-ranging experiences students gained and how these experiences enriched their overall educational journey.
Faculty members present at the session provided constructive feedback on the students' presentations and the overall internship program. They noted the strengths of the program and suggested improvements to better align internships with industry demands and student career aspirations.
The session underscored GCW Bhagwati Nagar's commitment to providing holistic education that combines rigorous academic training with practical exposure. The feedback gathered will be invaluable in refining the internship program, ensuring future students receive even more impactful and relevant learning opportunities, better preparing them for professional challenges and enhancing their employability.
