Jammu, Aug 30: After the party issued lists of party candidates for the Assembly elections, a spree of resignations is going unabated in the disciplined BJP as leaders resigned from the party to contest elections as rebel candidates. Today two senior leaders namely Chander Mohan Sharma, a veteran politician, and Kashmira Singh resigned from the party against the wrong distribution of the tickets. Chander Mohan Sharma is a veteran leader, who has been associated with the Saffron party since the days of Jan Sangh. Similarly, Kashmira Singh is the district president of the party's Samba district. While Chander Mohan Sharma has announced to contest the election as an Independent candidate from the Jammu East Assembly constituency, Kashmira Singh has not announced a future course of action. Within a week after starting of the campaign, Suraj Singh Parihar has added woes for the BJP because he is effectively mobilize public support by playing the victim card. The party is also a rebel candidate for Padder-Nagsani seat where BJP’s Yuva Morcha leader Rocky Goswami is contesting as an Independent candidate. The “disciplined” BJP is facing resentment and anger over “wrong” ticket distribution in the Union territory, with party leaders and workers protesting in several districts of the Jammu region. This has prompted the party to launch a damage control exercise, deploying several top leaders, including Union ministers, to defuse the situation. |
