Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Aug 31: The SVEEP Committee of Government Degree College Ramban, in collaboration with the SVEEP Cell of District Ramban, organized an awareness program focused on electoral processes and the significance of active participation in democracy. The event, held under the overall guidance of Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal of the college, aimed to educate students on the importance of understanding and engaging in the electoral process.
In her address, Prof. Kaul emphasized the crucial role of students in strengthening democracy through informed and active participation. She encouraged the youth to become knowledgeable about electoral processes, as they are the future of the nation's democratic framework.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Ram Parkash, Convener of the SVEEP Committee at the college, and featured several notable speakers. Among them were Prof. Mukhtar Ahmed Mir (Nodal Officer Electoral Literacy Club, District Ramban), Kewal Krishan (Nodal Officer SVEEP, District Ramban), Manjeet Singh (Assistant Nodal Officer SVEEP, District Ramban), Abdul Hamid (Master Trainer), and Surya Prakash (Master Trainer).
The speakers addressed the students on the vital role of voter education in a democracy, highlighting the importance of informed and active participation in the electoral process. They introduced the students to various mobile applications developed by the Election Commission of India (ECI). These apps are designed to simplify voter registration, ensuring that all eligible voters can easily enroll in the electoral roll. Additionally, the applications provide comprehensive information about candidates contesting elections, allowing voters to make informed decisions. The apps also enhance the voting experience by offering guidance on polling station locations, voting procedures, and other essential details.
This awareness program was a significant step towards empowering the youth with the knowledge and tools necessary to participate effectively in the democratic process.
