Government Degree College Ramban organizes workshop

RAMBAN, Aug 31: GDC Ramban organized One Day workshop on "A new vision to Agri-Entrepreneurship. The workshop was organized by Institution Innovation Cell of GDC Ramban and program was sponsored by J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Udhampur under the patronage of Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal of the College. Prof. Jawaid Sarver, Convener IIC, presented the inaugural address where he welcomed the revered resource persons Puneet Gandotra, AEA from Agriculture Department Ramban, Prof. Arjun Gupta, Assistant Professor and Zubeer Ahmed Sohil, a successful agriculture-entrepreneur from Banihal.
In his address, Puneet Gandotra enlightened the audience on various components and aspects of Integrated Farming System and enumerated various Govt. schemes which provide assistance in setting up agriculture infrastructure. In a very interactive session, he encouraged the students to take up farming as a profession and serve as role model to other youth of the region.
Prof. Arjun Gupta, in his presentation, explained the concept of Entrepreneurship through real life examples of successful entrepreneurs. He also explained the process and relevance of Entrepreneurship in today's world. Zubeer Ahmed Sohil, in his interaction, talked about his struggles and achievements in the field of Agriculture. He also informed about the innovative practices he has adopted at his farm. He motivated the students and assured of all possible guidance if they are willing to work in this domain. A short clip showcasing his work at the farm was also played for the students to watch and learn from it. Prof. Archana Kaul, Principal, encouraged the students to learn from today's workshop and explore the possibility of taking up farming as a profession. She thanked all resource persons for taking out their valuable time and for their very inspiring presentations. She also expressed her gratitude for J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council Udhampur for sponsoring this program. She also lauded the efforts of Innovations cell of the College for organizing such informative workshop.
The proceedings were coordinated by Dr. Vishal Baloria. Dr. Anuj Gupta, co-ordinator of the workshop presented the vote of thanks.
