7th Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate - final round & prize distribution ceremony

NEW DELHI, Aug 31: Pinegrove School, Dharampur, hosted the Finale of the 7th Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turncoat Debate on 31st August, 2024. This unique event brought together eloquent bilingual debaters from 14 renowned schools across India.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Ved Prakash Mishra, Pro-Chancellor & Chief Advisor, Datta Meghe Medical College, Nagpur.
Out of 28 participants, 16 were shortlisted for the Final Round by the esteemed judges, Anju Mehta, Dr. Harsh Vardhan Singh Khimta, Hemank Kapil, and Dr. Mukesh Sharma. The finalists debated the topic ''Universal basic income is a practical solution to poverty.' Selected by a draw of lots, showcasing strong discourse, persuasive and rebuttal skills in addition to bilingual proficiency.
The chief guest, Dr. Vedprakash Mishra eloquently expressed that true victory lies not in winning or losing, but in the journey of refinement-of mastering bilingual fluency and crafting logical arguments within the art of honourable turncoat debate. He commended the event and its organizers, the poise, grace, exuberance and the thoughtful discourse of the participants, that unfolded likening the experience to a sacred pilgrimage.
The Judges of the competition appreciated the thoughtful choice of topics and commended the participants for their display of 21st-century skills, highlighting the importance of effective communication as the key to great leadership.
Pinegrove School, Dharampur was declared the winner whilst Pinegrove School Subathu team were adjudged as the 1st Runners Up.
As per the rule the host school doesn't keep the winning trophy as a result of which the winners trophy was handed over to St. Soldier Divine Public School, Panchkula who had secured the 3rd Position while the Runners up Trophy was handed over to LK Singhania Education Centre, Gotan and Yadavindra Public School, Patiala who had jointly secured the 4th Position.
