GDC Khour organizes symposium on SVEEP to boost voting awareness

KHOUR, Aug 31: GDC Khour organized an enlightening symposium under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, aimed at enhancing voting awareness among students. The event, held under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma, Principal of the college, featured a range of engaging activities designed to underscore the significance of voting in a democratic society.
The symposium included speeches, slogan writing, and a pledge-taking ceremony, all focused on highlighting the importance of exercising one's voting rights. Active participation came from NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and students from the Political Science and Physical Education departments, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to promoting democratic engagement.
Notable speakers Sonia Sharma, Neha Devi, and Rakhi Manhas, all from the third semester, delivered speeches on the value of voting as both a fundamental right and a civic duty. They emphasized the power of every single vote in fostering positive change within the country. Additionally, Taniya Sharma and Mannu Devi, also from the third semester, captivated the audience with their poems on the crucial role of voting.
Students showcased their creativity and enthusiasm through slogan writing, with impactful messages such as "Shape Your future, Vote Now" and "Every Vote Matters," aimed at spreading awareness about the significance of voting.
In his keynote address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma highlighted the dual nature of voting as both a privilege and a responsibility. He stressed that voting is not only a way to express individual opinions but also a powerful tool for shaping the collective future of society.
The symposium concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, where students committed to advancing voting awareness and encouraging their peers to exercise their voting rights.
The event was organized under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college. Prof. Reeta Menia, Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Prof. Shivani Sharma, Prof. Himanshu Khajuria, Prof. Sunil Kumar, and Prof. Pooja Kumari also graced the occasion with their presence
