NHPC accorded with 'Navratna' company status

JAMMU, Aug 31: Regional Office, Jammu organized a programme at office complex, Narwal, Jammu on 31.08.2024 to mark the conferment of "Navratna" status to NHPC Limited by the Department of Public Enterprises (Ministry of Finance), NHPC has been declared a 'Navratna' company, thereby providing NHPC with greater operational and financial autonomy. On this occasion, Shri Ram Swaroop, Executive Director, Regional Office, Jammu said that this is an important achievement of NHPC. This is the result of our hard work of the last 49 years since inception of NHPC IN 1975. Getting the status of "Navratna" has infused a new energy in us and we will contribute to the development of the company with even more dedication and enthusiasm.
The conferring of Navratna status brings forth key advantages to NHPC. It will enable faster decision-making, increase efficiency and empower employees. It will support major CAPEX and investment plans, drive growth, expand market reach and achieve long-term gains. NHPC will have enhanced powers to establish joint ventures and overseas offices, access new markets and leverage local expertise. Additionally, it will foster innovation by furthering technological alliances and strengthening market positioning. It will also facilitate mergers and acquisitions leading to growth and increased market share. He further added in his speech that NHPC has total installed capacity is 7144.20 MW and the company is presently engaged in the construction of projects aggregating to 10442.70 MW. These include the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower project (Assam/ Arunachal Pradesh) and 2880 MW Dibang Multi-purpose project (Arunachal Pradesh). Besides, NHPC is working on development of more than 50000 MW capacity projects which are under various stages. NHPC is also steadfastly working towards achieving an installed capacity of 23000 MW by 2032 and 50000 MW by 2047. Guru Dutt, GM(F), P.Sathyamurthi, GM (HR), Satnam Singh, GM(C), Pankaj Vashistha, GM (C), officers & employees were also present on this occasion.
