GLDM GDC organises Voter’s Pledge under Electoral Literacy Club

Hiranagar, Aug 31: The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the College organized the Voter’s Pledge to make the students of the College aware of the immense importance of Voting rights of the citizens. Prof Amit Kumar Sharma, Convener Electoral Literacy Club formally welcomed the faculty members as well as the students of the College to the programme and introduced the context of the Voter’s Pledge as the ongoing Legislative Assembly Elections where 88.03 Lakh eligible voters will vote to elect the Legislators(MLAs) for the formation of the Govt.
Later, Ms. Saloni, the campus Ambassador of the college lead the pledge taking ceremony.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, the Principal of the College, while speaking on the ocassion, exhorted the campus ambassadors and other students to spread the awareness on Voting Rights in the wider community. She also announced prizes for the campus ambassador as well as the students who would take lead in bringing out substantive change towards further strengthening the democratic ethos of the society. The formal Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Vijay Kumar, member Electoral Literacy Club. The entire programme was coordinated by the collective efforts of the Campus Ambassadors appointed for disseminating the awareness about the Voting Rights. The other faculty members present during the Voters Pledge included Prof Rakesh Sharma, Prof Prof Balbir Singh, Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Dr Ramkrishan, Prof Roopali Jamwal, Dr Vijay Kumar, ,Prof Shapia Shameen, Prof Surinder Kumar, Prof Shivani Slathia, Prof Neeru Sharma, Prof Punam and Librarian, Mr. Sandeep Kumar.
