APS Leads Green Initiative as Part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Akhnoor, Aug 31: In a significant stride towards environmental conservation, Army Public School, Akhnoor, organised a two-day plantation drive as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The event, which also aligned with the Prime Minister-led, ongoing “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, was conducted across tenlocations, including the School Campus, Akhnoor Fort, various government schools and the Jiya Pota Ghat on the bank of Chenab River.
The drive, wherein 1200 saplings were planted, saw the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers and prominent local figures. The event was graced by the Chairman of Army Public School, Akhnoor and other notable attendees from the region, including Mr Lekhraj, SDM Akhnoor, MrTariq, SHO Akhnoor and Mrs Suman Bala, ZEO, Akhnoor.
The Chairman urged the students to continue their efforts in safeguarding the environment and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a greener future. Ms Geeta Devi, the Principal commended the efforts of the students, teachers and all participants who wholeheartedly engaged in the plantation drive. She highlighted that collective enthusiasm and dedication to planting trees reflect the school’s strong commitment to environmental conservation and a sustainable future.
Students were also encouraged to extend the initiative to their homes and neighbourhoods, inspiring others to plant trees and actively contribute to saving the environment.
The school’s efforts in nurturing environmentally conscious citizens while celebrating its 50 years of excellence underscore its commitment to holistic education and community welfare. The plantation drive not only honoured the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign but also reflected the school’s enduring legacy of service and environmental stewardship.
