JK Govt pharmacist association holds meeting

Jammu, Sept 1: A significant meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association was held today under the leadership of Sh. Bharat Bhushan Bhagat and Sh. Sushil Sudan, a member of the Pharmacy Council of India. The meeting focused on various pressing issues facing pharmacists in the region and the need for critical reforms to improve healthcare services.
During the meeting, the association strongly advocated for the change of nomenclature for pharmacists, aligning with practices in other states. This change is seen as essential to recognize the evolving role of pharmacists in the healthcare system. Additionally, the association demanded the creation of a post for Senior Pharmacist at New Type Primary Health Centers (PHCs) that have been upgraded from Allopathic dispensaries. This, they argued, would significantly enhance patient care by ensuring experienced pharmacists are available in these centers. Another key demand was the creation of Pharmacist positions at Health and Wellness Centers, particularly in rural areas. The association emphasized that this step is crucial to providing better healthcare services to the rural population, ensuring that they have access to qualified pharmacists. The association also announced plans to celebrate “World Pharmacists Day” on September 25, 2024, underscoring their commitment to the profession and the community. The meeting was addressed by several prominent members, including R.P. Singh, Bahadur Singh, Sanjay Choudhary, Sandeep Pandita, Madan Lal Sharma, Surjeet Rajan, Daleep Choudhary, Javed, Sorab Bakshi, Vinod Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Naresh Sharma, Vikas Sabarwal, Khalid Mehmood, Pawan Kumar, and Ajeet Choudhary. Each speaker highlighted the importance of these reforms and the need for collective efforts to achieve them. The meeting concluded with a resolution to continue advocating for these changes and to work closely with government authorities to ensure the demands are met for the betterment of healthcare services in J&K.
