Early Times Report

BARAMULLA, Sept 1: In an effort to promote electoral awareness and ensure maximum participation in the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, a comprehensive awareness programme under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative was conducted today at Model Public School, Janwara Sopore.
The event was held under the supervision of Shabir Ahmad Raina, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, who is also Returning Officer for the 7-Sopore Assembly Constituency.
The programme witnessed active participation of citizens from Janwara and surrounding areas, with a special focus on engaging the youth and first-time voters.
On the occasion, Returning Officer 7-Sopore Assembly Constituency provided detailed information about the electoral process. He encouraged all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and emphasized the importance of active participation in the democratic process.
In an effort to make voting accessible to all, attendees were informed about special provisions for senior citizens, as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Additionally, a demonstration of the Saksham-ECI app was provided.
A significant highlight of the programme was the pledge taken by senior citizens and PwDs, who committed to spreading the message of electoral participation within their communities. This initiative aims to ensure a higher voter turnout in the upcoming elections, with a particular focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups.
The SVEEP programme continues to play a crucial role in voter education and empowerment, ensuring that every eligible citizen is informed and motivated to participate in the democratic process.
