Sulking senior leaders maintain silence, BJP top brass worried | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 1: Although senior party leaders, who have denied party mandates, have not uttered even a single word against party leadership, the guarded silence maintained by these stalwarts has added worry for the BJP. Feeling humiliated and disgraced after the party leadership denied tickets to them without any reason, senior BJP leaders have maintained silence as “disciplined” soldiers of the party but internally they are waiting for an appropriate opportunity to teach a lesson to the party. Interestingly, the party leadership has made it a point to involve these sulking leaders in different activities of the party to give the impression that the party is united despite dropping senior leaders. Important to mention here that the BJP has so far dropped former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, former ministers namely Sham Choudhary, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Satpal Sharma CA, Abdul Gani Kohli, Bali Bhagat, ex-MLAs Kuldeep Raj of Hiranagar, Krishan Lal Bhagat of Chhamb and Dina Nath from Chenani. Sources in the BJP said that recently a meeting of senior leaders was held at the residence of one of the dropped ministers to devise a strategy for the future course of action. “In the meeting, it was decided that instead of raising a banner of revolt they Feeling humiliated and disgraced after they were denied tickets, senior BJP leaders have maintained silence as “disciplined” soldiers of the party. The party leadership has made it a point to involve these sulking leaders in different activities to give an impression that the party is united. BJP has so far dropped former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, former ministers Sham Choudhary, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Satpal Sharma CA, Abdul Gani Kohli, Bali Bhagat, ex-MLAs Kuldeep Raj of Hiranagar, Krishan Lal Bhagat of Chhamb and Dina Nath from Chenani. would maintain a silence at this point in time and would wait for the appropriate time to act”, sources said and added that things would be cleared during the election campaigning. As reported earlier, BJP is experiencing a wave of resignations and rebellion after releasing its candidate lists for the Assembly elections. Senior leaders Chander Mohan Sharma and Kashmira Singh have resigned, citing unfair ticket distribution. Sharma, a veteran politician since the Jan Sangh era, will contest as an Independent candidate from Jammu East, while Singh, the district president of Samba, has not yet announced his next move. Suraj Singh Parihar, a young BJP leader, has filed his nomination as an Independent candidate in Ramban, challenging official nominee Rakesh Thakur. Parihar has gained significant public support by positioning himself as a victim. Additionally, Rocky Goswami, the BJP's Yuva Morcha leader, is contesting as an Independent candidate in Padder-Nagsani. The "disciplined" BJP is facing widespread resentment and anger in the Jammu region due to perceived unfair ticket distribution. Party leaders and workers are protesting in several districts, prompting the deployment of top leaders, including Union ministers, to mitigate the situation through damage control exercises. |
