Short Term Upskilling Programmes for Women conducted by Central University Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 2: Short Term Upskilling Training Programme for Women candidates conducted by School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu at GCW Bagwati Nagar concluded today with an impressive Certificate distribution ceremony organised by the College. The Upskilling Training Programme on Social Media Executive was conducted by School of Business Studies in collaboration with GCW Bagwati Nagar under the mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Mission Directorate, Department of Skill Development, J&K. It is pertinent to mention here that number of Job oriented courses were offered by the University during the last academic session including Social Media Executive, Community Journalist, Yoga and Wellness, Digital Marketing, Soft Skills and Personality Development, Homestay Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Multipurpose Associate (Tourism) etc. In this series course on Social Media Executive concluded today at Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu in presence of Dr. Meeru Abrol, Principal, Project Team Members comprising of Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq & Dr. Neelika Arora from School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu. Prof. Meeru Abrol in her valedictory address appreciated the efforts of faculty members from School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu under the visionary leadership of Prof. Sanjeev Jain in carrying out such outreach activities in collaborative mode. She congratulated the learners and organizers of the Programme from the College for its successful completion. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Meeru Abrol impressed upon the participants to utilize the skills learned during the course for supporting themselves and others by starting their own enterprise. She highlighted that NEP-2020 envisions that skill courses to be made available to students enrolled in all Bachelor's Degree Programmes irrespective of disciplines. Prof. Jaya Bhasin in her address thanked College authorities for the successful culmination of the Upskilling Training Programme for women in making them self-reliant. In her address she observed that for economic empowerment of women in today's changing job market is of paramount importance for bringing a change in society. Dr. Neelika Arora in her address pointed out that Project Team members are ready for hand-holding and supporting entrepreneurial ventures by providing necessary mentorship and in establishing market linkages. She appreciated the efforts of Resource Persons viz. Dr. Asif Ali, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies and Naman Chibber for conducting the course.Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shahid Mushtaq apprised the gathering about new initiatives including development of skill apps for Youth providing integrated e-learning platform and Project YUVA which J&K Govt. will be launching for the benefit of the youth to ensure sustainable income and employment opportunities by creating a supporting ecosystem. He stressed on the need for changing the mindset from Job seeking behaviour to Job creation as opportunities in Govt. sectors are shrinking as well as new types of Jobs are created because of technological advancements. He further pointed out that woman empowerment is one of the key pillars for achieving Viksit Bharat@2047 as envisaged by Prime Minister of Narendra Modi.The entire programme was coordinated by Project Team members and faculty members from Career Counselling Cell of College. Earlier Dr. Pavanjeet Bali, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Coordinator Career Counselling Cell welcomed the Guests to the valedictory session and Nisha Bhagat, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Coordinator IQAC proposed formal vote of thanks. Simranjeet Kaur and Ragini Kohli conducted the proceedings of the Programme.
